Lions on the move

THE Corangamite Lions have moved up to fifth place in the division one competition after a 4-1 win over Victoria Park last weekend.


Playing in Ballarat on Sunday, the Lions led 4-0 at half-time.

Flavien Riviere opened the scoring in the 15th minute, with Tom Gillert adding a second in the 19th minute.

Riviere scored his second in the 26th minute, his brace taking him to 10 goals so far for the season.

Roman Fachetti put through the fourth for the Lions in the 43rd minute, also his 10th goal for the season.

This Sunday the Lions travel to Daylesford to take on the bottom of the ladder Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club.

The women’s division one game saw the Lions go down 3-1.

Courtney Wells kicked the Lions’ goal in the 23rd minute, which at that stage levelled the game at 1-1.

Victoria Park’s goals came in the 15th, 34th and 65th minutes.

In the division two men’s game, Victoria Park had a thumping 8-1 win.

Jamie Norton scored the Lions’ only goal in the 38th minute.

The under 12 Lions played Buninyong Red at Buninyong, the home team winning 8-0.
