AFTER five rounds in the Warrnambool District division two competition, the Noorat Terang Lions remain undefeated.

In what was a low-scoring affair last weekend, the Lions contained visitors Nestles to just 10-78 after 38.2 overs.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first but only lower-order batsman Ryan Hetherington could reach double figures, finishing not out on 18.

The Lions’ bowlers had a great day out with the ball, with Gus Bourke and Tim Keane both finishing with figures of 4-16 from their nine overs.

Captain Liam Geary was also effective, taking 1-10 off six while team-mate Sam Munro took 1-4 off 4.2 overs.

In reply, the Lions surpassed the total in the 22nd over, finishing the day at 4-79 thanks to the efforts of Gus Bourke, unbeaten on 22, and Geary with 11.

Openers Ned Roberts and David Conheady were taken early, managing just seven and eight runs respectively, while Isaac Kenna was unbeaten on eight and Max Heffernan contributed five.

The Lions will be hoping to continue their winning streak when they take on Wesley Yambuk at Terang this Saturday.
