Little aths soon underway

ELEVEN athletes from the Camperdown Little Athletics Club competed in the western country region, regional and state cross-country events during the off-season.

On Sunday, July 14 the group battled wet weather and cold winds at Lake Bolac but brought home some great results.

Esther Couch, Wilbur Reid, Millie Bourke, Alexis Cumming, Zoe Unwin, Reagan Webb, Cooper Cumming, Pippa Kempton, Stella Horspole, Luca Unwin and Lenny Bourke all represented the Camperdown centre.

With lots of personal bests recorded, all athletes went out and gave it their best and had an amazing day.

A further congratulations to Esther Couch, Reagan Webb and Cooper Cumming who also went on to compete at the state cross-country event at Bundoora Park on Sunday, August 10.

All athletes performed well, with all recording personal best times.

Under 9 – 1.5km, Esther Couch 06.17 (28th); under 12 – 2km, Regan Webb 08.11 (34th); under 14 – 3km, Cooper Cumming 11.48 (23rd),

Registrations are now open for the 2024/25 season, with Friday night competition set to start on Friday, October 11; 4.15pm arrival for a 4.30pm briefing and warm-up.

The club is asking all returning and trial families to be registered prior to Friday, October 4 to assure the committee has enough time to prepare shirts for collection on Monday, October 4, along with name patches and the weekly result sheets.

For all fully paid registered athletes, an optional Monday night training session will start on Monday, October 7 from 3.45pm – 4.30pm with Stuart Canavan, level three Athletics Australia Performance Coach from the Regional Institute of Sport.

The club is looking forward to seeing all returning and new families back at the track, Camperdown College Sports Precinct, Fredrick Street.
