Heytesbury District Landcare Network (HDLN) hosted a community planting day event earlier this month to beautify the section between Timboon Fine Ice Cream and the Timboon Railway Shed Distillery.

HDLN coordinator Michelle Leech said the day was a “great success” with more than 30 volunteers of all ages rolling up their sleeves to plant native seedlings in the area.

“I was particularly happy to see so many families digging in to lend a hand,” she said.

“The native seedlings will provide homes for a wide range of native birds, insects and animals, which will help make Timboon a more biodiverse place.

“Not only will the seedlings grow to support the ecosystem, but the volunteers involved will be able to enjoy the rewards of their efforts for many years to come.”
