Local students contest state athletics champs

STUDENTS from Terang College and Mortlake P-12 College attained strong results at the School Sport Victoria Secondary Track and Field Championships last Friday.

STUDENTS from Terang College and Mortlake P-12 College attained strong results at the School Sport Victoria Secondary Track and Field Championships last Friday.

Three students – one from Terang and two from Mortlake – took part in a variety of events and came away with a number of top five finishes at Albert Park’s Lakeside Stadium.

Mortlake’s Jackson Boyden was his school’s top performer, finishing fourth in the boys 18-20 years triple jump.

Fellow Mortlake student Shae De Francesco finished eighth in the 16 year girls javelin.

Nicholas Castersen was Terang’s sole attendee, finishing fourth in the boys 15 years discus.

Meanwhile, Terang College student Sema Meric will represent her school today at School Sport Victoria State Track and Field Primary Boys/Mixed Girls State Championships.

The championships will also be held at Lakeside Stadium.
