Low rain though 2024
CLEAR skies throughout 2024 saw Cobden experience its lowest rainfall result in 18 years.

The rainfall tally recorded over Cobden last year finished at just 561.5mm, well below the long-term annual average of 836.6mm.
The figure was the lowest recorded since 2006 when just 496.8mm was recorded as the millennium drought began.
The annual tally had been in decline since the severe flooding events of 2022, which saw 1014.4mm of rain fall over Cobden before dropping to 751mm in 2023.
Cobden experienced rainfall above the long-term average through only three months of 2024 - January, April and September.
The wettest month for the year was July, with 91.9mm of rain hitting the ground – the result, however, also did not reach the July long-term average result of 92.4mm.
February was the driest month for Cobden, with just 2.2mm recorded despite rain having been recorded across six days – with less than 1mm falling on each of the days.
The highest daily rainfall for 2024 was recorded on April 2, with 30mm hitting the ground over 24 hours.
December finished out the year with 52mm of rain hitting the ground, slightly below the long-term monthly average of 54.1mm.
The highest daily rainfall for the month was recorded as 14.4mm on December 1.
