Low rain to start the year
THE year started on a dry note over Cobden as the rain tally for January fell well below the long-term average.

Dry conditions: Cobden stayed relatively dry throughout January, with the monthly rainfall result less than half the long-term average.
Throughout January, just 15.2mm of rain was recorded over Cobden – with 25 days over the course of the month having recorded no rainfall over 24 hours.
The result was well below the long-term monthly average of 41.3mm.
The majority of the rain was recorded on one day, with January 6 marking the highest daily rainfall recorded at 12mm.
The figure was in stark contrast to the wet start experienced in 2024, with 58.4mm recorded in January last year.
