Lucas shines
A KNOCK of 62 from Eddie Lucas was a highlight of the Pelicans’ innings against Cobden last weekend.

A KNOCK of 62 from Eddie Lucas was a highlight of the Pelicans’ innings against Cobden last weekend.
Despite Lucas’ efforts with the bat, Bookaar fell short of Cobden’s 10/199cc, managing just 6/137 at the end of play.
With rain interrupting play, the Duckworth Lewis system of scoring was introduced – which resulted in a six-run loss for the Pelicans.
“Unfortunately for us the Duckworth didn’t fall our way but that’s how it goes,” captain Tim Fitzgerald said.
“We were certainly disappointed not to take the win but there were many positives to take from the game.
“Eddie batted really well, as did Sam Allen (28), and our bowlers really stood up and performed well.”
Fitzgerald made special mention of the bowling efforts of Zach and Hamish Sinnott, along with youngster Wilba Cheeseman.
“Wilba was abit unlucky not to get a wicket or two but he pegged them back really well and did his role,” Fitzgerald said.
Best with the ball for the Pelicans were Hamish Sinnott 3/24 off five overs, Zach Sinnott 3/35 off 10 and Tim Fitzgerald 2/34 off 10.
“The ground was great to play on; it’s a real credit to Cobden. The turf wicket was consistent all day and you can’t ask for more than that,” Fitzgerald said.
“This weekend we face Heytesbury at Frederick Street. It will be a tough one because we’ve got three of our younger blokes unavailable but we’ll see how we go.”
In division three last weekend, Bookaar 8/137cc defeated Woorndoo 9/82cc.
Stephen Fitzgerald 36, Alby Cheeseman 22 and Jesse Horan 16 were the best of the batters while wickets went to Ned Molan 3/22, Lenny Stephens 2/19 and Tim Daffy 1/4.
