Lucky escape for Camperdown
WEDNESDAY’S strong winds and storm conditions saw Camperdown’s State Emergency Services (SES) unit attend a number of calls for assistance.

Camperdown managed to avoid much of the worst winds, with speeds reaching 91 kilometres an hour while coastal areas saw the brunt of the forecasted winds.
Camperdown SES unit controller Bray Wright said the unit responded to four jobs during the weather event.
“One was a tree partially blocking the road, two were trees partially blocking access to driveways and one was relocated before we got there,” he said.
“All in all, it was a pretty good outcome for the amount of wind we had on Wednesday.”
Mr Wright said there were steps residents could take to prepare for future events, including tying down trampolines as they can often become airborne during weather events.
“Make sure there’s no loose debris in your yard,” he said.
“We also remind residents to slow down to 40km/h when passing our vehicle when its lights are flashing.”
