Magpies keen to get second win
THE Camperdown Magpies will be looking to build on its season after the A grade netballers return from the bye.

THE Camperdown Magpies will be looking to build on its season after the A grade netballers return from the bye.
The Magpies notched up win number one for the season against Portland prior to the break, which coach Leah Sinnott said was something she hopes the team can build upon.
“We trained last week despite the bye, which was probably the first week we were all at training and able to break down our systems in terms of how we would like to play,” she said.
“We feel like we’ve had so many changes to our line-up in the first three weeks.
“It was a good win (against Portland) but it wasn’t a pretty game and it wasn’t how I see our best netball being played.
“We just want to keep working on that, continue improving and hopefully put some of the things we’ve been working on at training in to the game and get another win.”
Sinnott said the point of emphasis was developing chemistry to play more efficient, free-flowing netball.
“We want an awareness of each other, which we still haven’t quite built as a new team,”she said.
“We have a lot of young players so we’re trying to find our feet with that awareness of where each other is on the court and get our timing spot on.
“The players have the skill there; it’s just merging it together which will be a big focus.”
The Magpies will welcome a Port Fairy side which will be looking to replicate what Camperdown achieved last week and tally up its first win of the season.
As a young team finding its feet, Sinnott said it was hard to get a feel for the Seagulls side.
“I know very little about the team,” she said.
“They’re a much-changed side from the last time I was involved in the league so they’re in a similar situation to us in terms of having kids to bring through the ranks.
“We expect a good contest, and I know they haven’t won but they’ve had it tough so I know they’ll be looking for a win.
“We’re not taking it lightly.”
Sinnott said she wanted to see her team play with “a bit of flow” come game-time.
“I’m hoping we can play with a bit of confidence in each other’s movements, which we’ve been working on at training,” she said.
“If we can put some of that in practice, even if it’s in patches, that’ll be pleasing just to see that confidence build as a unit.”
