Magpies push ladder leaders
CAMPERDOWN’S senior footballers pushed top of the ladder North Warrnambool all day at Bushfield on Saturday and fell just eight points short of the win.

The Magpies got to within a point after 14 minutes in the last quarter, the home team then kicking two goals to set an unattainable lead.
“We had our opportunities, I felt it was a winnable game,” lamented Camperdown coach Clinton Thomas.
Level at half-time, a strong third quarter from North Warrnambool was crucial in the result.
“In the third quarter they got up in clearances, we overused our handball and they kept the tempo high to their advantage,” Thomas said.
The Eagles opened up a 37-point lead by the nine minute mark of the third term.
“The second half of the third quarter saw us get back to playing our game,” Thomas said.
Harry Sumner, Zach Sinnott and Bayley Thompson were Camperdown’s best.
“Harry continues to play well and Zac had a cracking game.
“Bayley was damaging, he converted well again and played a great game despite the very close attention he got.”
Lenny Stephens and Alec Thomas also were in the Magpies best.
“Lenny played off half back and was really influential,” Thomas said.
“Alec did a good job on Jarryd Lewis, he closed him down and made sure the possessions he did get were of little impact.”

Wing attack Indi Cameron was best for Camperdown.
“Indi fed the goalers well, she played a constantly hard working game.”
Annaliese Hughes returned to the team to strengthen the Magpie defence, her game drawing praise from Leader.
“Annaliese played on (North Warrnambool goal shooter) Chelsea Quinn and did a great job.
“She wore her down, picked up the loose ball and was strong with her rebounds.”

“Sophie settles the team, she brings a steady calmness and point of difference to the way we play.”
