The team defeated Winchelsea 68-51 last Tuesday, winning all rinks.

Craig Skene’s rink of Fred Salmon, John O’Donohue and Kel Edwards set the tone when they came from behind to defeat Rhys Jeff’s rink 23-20.

Maria Van Someren continued the charge when her rink of Len Searle, Henry Henderson and Greg Edwards defeated Ray Thompson’s rink 25-13.

Peter Reilly’s rink of Barry Atchison, Vicki Brebner and Janet Molan completed the rout with a 20-18 win over Pip Wards’ rink.

This was a great effort by the Magpies, who were well down early but fought back to be one shot down at the afternoon tea break.

After the break, Winchelsea skipped out to an eight shot lead but the magpies were not to be out down and Craig Skene’s rink completely turned their rink around which played a major part in the overall win.

The whole team, and club, celebrated long and hard after the win.

In the midweek division two grand final, the Magpies took on Cressy.

Although they fought hard all day, Cressy proved why they only lost one game for the season, winning the flag 70-59.

Stan Adeney’s rink of Bab Boyd, Tim Spokes and Rene Wyles were defeated by Neville Keating’s rink 18-24.

Ron Simcox’s rink of Brad Wilson, Pam Atchison and Les Pearson were defeated by John Spry’s rink 21-23.

It has been a great season for division two who came from third on the ladder to reach the grand final.

In last weekend’s pennant grand finals, the Magpies’ division two and three teams both lost their games.

Division two went down to Lorne 80-106 while division three lost to Colac 64-90.

In division two on Saturday, Fred Salmon’s rink of Andrew Anderson, Kevin Russell and Greg Edwards finished off a great season by being the only winning rink on the day.
