Market proceeds to support families in need
EVERY bargain will support a good cause when the Terang All Saints Church Markets return this weekend, with all proceeds from the event going towards helping those who have fallen on hard times.

Terang All Saints Anglican Church secretary Julie Pomeroy said all involved were excited to see the beloved markets returning this weekend, with a wide range of market stalls and fresh produce expected to be on offer.
“The All Saints Markets will recommence on Saturday, September 6 after its winter break,” she said.
“Proceeds from this market are to be donated to Anglicare.
“Anglicare provides services and food for those in need during the difficult winter period.”
Anglicare offers a range of support systems for those who have fallen on hard times including emergency food relief through the provision of parcels of shelf stable food, bread, margarine and frozen meals, script assistance, fruit and vegetables or butcher vouchers.
Anglicare Victoria community development manager Kim Boyd said programs in the south west help between 100-120 households which are supported with food parcels each month.
“These households are struggling to meet their costs (rent, utilities, medical bills, fuel etc) and the food support assists them to put food on the table and be able to put money towards these costs,” she said.
“We are seeing more households in 2025 than 2024 and they are needing food assistance more often to make ends meet.
“We see families and single people of all ages.
“Our clients are mostly renters and we are also seeing an increase in older people seeking assistance.”
Each food parcel has items like long life milk, cereal, spreads, coffee, sugar, pasta, pasta sauce, tinned fruit, tinned tomatoes, baked beans and spaghetti – all of which is only possible due to the compassion of the wider community.
“Donations from the community provide variety to pantry and clients enjoy being able to choose items not regularly stocked like sweet biscuits and toiletries,” Ms Boyd said.
“Knitted items and warm clothing, blankets and jackets have been welcomed by our clients in both programs.
“Many of our clients are limiting their heating over Winter as they can’t afford the cost.
“The beanies and scarves have been especially appreciated in the Drop in Centre where many of the folk are sleeping rough.”
Ms Boyd thanked the Terang All Saints Anglican Church for the offer of support, saying every dollar helps.
“We rely heavily on donations to meet the increasing need for food,” she said.
“Anglicare Victoria is very grateful to the parishes and communities across the south west for their generous support and donations in caring for those doing it tough.”
The markets will be held on the first Saturday of the month from 9am-1pm at the Terang All Saints Anglican Church, 2 Thomson Street, until winter 2026.
