PETERBOROUGH driver Ewan McKenzie claimed his fourth Victorian Super Rod Title after a dominant display at Simpson Speedway on Saturday night.

The 66 year-old rewrote the history books, becoming the eldest winner in event history.

McKenzie led from start to finish in the 25-lap feature race, to beat home Colac’s Neville Gange by a mere 0.040 of a second, while Inverleigh driver Corey Deglaitis placed third.

McKenzie started the race from pole position after claiming two heat race wins along with a second placing to set up the victory.

In an amazing result, McKenzie’s triumph comes 37 years after his first win and 32 years since his last success.

He has previously won state titles in 1982, 83 and 87.

The next major event on the Super Rod calendar is on February 16 back at Simpson Speedway for the 42nd running of the annual Trevor Podger Memorial.
