MERCY Regional College student Ruby Darcy has brought home a swag of medals from this month’s state track and field championships.
The 15 year-old won gold in both the high jump and long jump events, along with silver in triple jump and bronze in the 100m sprint.
Mercy students had a great day out, bringing home six medals in total – two gold, two silver and two bronze.
Competing in the 15yr boys’ category, Archie Taylor finished second in the 800m sprint.
Rhys Unwin, Myles Sinnott, Jonty Robertson and Ben McGlade combined to take bronze in the 16 boys’ relay event.
Year 12 student Safari McVilly came close to winning a medal, finishing fourth in both his races; the 18-20yr boys’ 200m and 400m events.
Regardless of the results, qualifying for the state championships was a fantastic achievement in itself.
