Memorable pennant for sailors
THE Derrinallum Sailing Club has wrapped up another outstanding pennant season.

The season included plenty of close racing, memorable moments and many reasons to celebrate both on and off the water.
The season began with a slight delay due to an algae bloom affecting the lake, but once racing commenced sailors made the most of excellent conditions.
With little rainfall throughout the season and receding water levels, a minor course adjustment proved successful; allowing the club to complete close to 30 pennant races.
Learn to Sail once again exceeded expectations, introducing new sailors to the sport and strengthening the future of the club.
One of the standout moments of the year was the club’s 70th anniversary celebration.
Around 100 guests gathered to commemorate seven decades of sailing, friendship and community spirit.
Competition throughout the season was exceptionally close, with a wide range of boats and skippers claiming race wins and podium finishes.
Different sailors featured prominently in the results each week, highlighting the depth of talent across the fleet and proving that on any given day, anyone can take home the honours.
Congratulations to all trophy winners:
Pre-Christmas trophy – 1st Mick Wright, 2nd Jensen King, 3rd Phil Noone.
Post-Christmas trophy – 1st Jensen King, 2nd Phil Noone, 3rd Jayde Williams.
R&M Snibson Trophy – 1st Phil Noone, 2nd Jensen King, 3rd Tim MacDonald.
Overall pennant championship – 1st Jensen King, 2nd Phil Noone, 3rd Jayde Williams.
Jayde was also recognised with the junior encouragement award for her enthusiasm and commitment throughout the season.
Adding to the club’s pride, Jensen became the first junior sailor from the club to earn a place aboard The Young Endeavour.
While trophies and results are important, club members believe it’s the people who make Derrinallum Sailing Club such a welcoming and family-oriented community.
From sailors and volunteers to rescue crews and supporters, everyone played a part in making the season a success.
Members are now already looking forward to getting back on the water and doing it all again next season.
