CAMPERDOWN Motorcycle Club members witnessed the inaugural Rick Walters Memorial Club Person of the Year Award last week.

Club president Sam Argyle said the award would be presented annually in memorial of Rick Walters, who he described as “community oriented”.

“Rick was a fantastic club man, we were fortunate to have him,” he said.

“He was a great member of the community. He did an awful lot of stuff for the community.”

Mr Argyle said the club was first formedin 1913.

He said in all those years there had not been recognition of a club member for “going above and beyond”.

Mr Walters family members attended the club’s monthly meeting last Wednesday to help present the inaugural award to club member Kevin Taylor.

Mr Argyle congratulated Mr Taylor on receiving the award and his efforts in and out of the club.

He encouraged community members to get involved with the club, which has between 90 to 100 members.

“We meet at the old yacht club rooms at Lake Bullen Merri on the first Wednesday of the month at about 7.30pm with the meeting starting at about 8.30pm,” Mr Argyle said.

“New members are always welcome.”

He said members do not necessarily have to ride a motorbike, but can have an interestin bikes.

“It’s just like-minded people,” Mr Argyle said.

“It’s a great club; it’s a lot of good fun.”
