COBDEN export Zach Merrett has been named in the 44-man squad for the 2023 All-Australian team.

The side, which was announced by the AFL on Monday night, will be narrowed down to a 22-man team tonight (Wednesday) at the AFL Awards ceremony.

Collingwood dominated the squad list, with five players from the Magpies selected alongside three players who are each in contention for a potential fifth blazer.

This year’s All-Australian selection panel comprised Gillon McLachlan (chairperson), Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Andrew Dillon, Glen Jakovich, Laura Kane, Cameron Ling and Matthew Pavlich.

Merrett was named alongside his Essendon team-mates Kyle Langford and Mason Redman.
