Milestone celebrations for Field and Game club
TIMBOON Field and Game Club has celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The celebrations marked half a century since the club was founded in November 1975 with little more than a donated clay trap, $66 in the bank, and a handful of determined volunteers.
What began on a private property in Colac Street has grown into a respected sporting club that now hosts state and national-level events.
Over five decades, the club has been built almost entirely through volunteer effort, community backing, and local partnerships.
Key moments have included the move to Curdies River Road in 1985, the introduction of major competitions through the 1990s and 2000s, survival through the COVID years, and most recently hosting the SCA National Championships in 2024 with strong community and council support.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the club has also awarded life memberships to three long-serving members whose combined service spans decades.
Congratulations to the following members:
Alan Gledhill - a member since 1984, Alan was recognised for more than 40 years of hands-on contribution, leadership roles, and maintenance work that forms much of the club’s infrastructure today.
Pat Gleeson - a member since 1995, Pat was acknowledged for 30 years of leadership across multiple executive roles, junior coaching, school programs, and major facility development.
Ewan McKenzie - a member since 2001, Ewan was recognised for sustained leadership, committee service, event organisation, and for his critical involvement during periods when the club’s future was uncertain.
The club’s 50th anniversary reflected not just sporting success, but a strong example of grassroots volunteering, regional resilience, and community-driven growth.
