Milestone for Demon netballer
POPULAR Lismore Derrinallum netballer Emily Murray last week celebrated her 200th senior club game for the Demons.
In what is Emily’s 21st season with the club, this proud Demon celebrated the special occasion on Saturday with family, friends and team-mates on their home court.
From her first game in under 13s through to last weekend’s match against Wickliffe Lake Bolac in the C grade competition, Emily has proven to be not only a formidable player but a strong team player.
According to team-mates, Emily brings an ‘incredible amount’ of netball knowledge to the court, as well as strong leadership and guidance to her team and the entire Demons netball community.
“Emily gives 110 per cent and there’s never a game or training session where you won’t see her give her absolute all; her effort and attitude lifts those around her,” team-mates said.
Among her long list of achievements, this current C grade captain has also been both a senior and junior coach with the Demons and has been the proud recipient of several awards.
This includes winning the Renae Quinlan Memorial Award in 2021, an A grade best and fairest in 2019 and finished eighth in the Mininera League in 2018 for goal shooting with an incredible 248 goals for the season.
She also finished runner-up best and fairest for the club in A grade in 2017 and in B grade in seasons 2015, 2016 and 2018.
She played her first A grade game in season 2009 as a 16 year-old.
Prior to the start of last Saturday’s milestone game, Emily ran through a banner of blue and red and was presented with a bunch of flowers.
