Milk Shed Exhibition
ART enthusiasts are being invited to a rarely-opened studio in Weerite to view the works of various nationally-recognised artists next month.
The Milk Shed Studio art exhibition will see eleven artists, all with ties to the south west Victoria district, coming together to display their works in the first weekend of April.
Exhibiting artist Harley Manifold said the exhibition will feature a variety of works across differing media and art forms, including works from his mother Marion Manifold.
“We’ve got some phenomenally well-known artists in all sort of different ranges of the arts field,” he said.
“We’ve got Jimmi Buscombe, who’s had over 50 to 60 million views on the wombat painting he did on the railway bridge (in Warrnambool).
“We’ve got Sarah Duyshart, who’s just finished her masters in London at the Royal College of Art.
“Sarah Gabriel’s a very well-known artist as well up in Kyneton, and she runs Lauriston
“Kathryn Ryan’s a nationally-exhibited and collected artist herself who paints local landscapes and cypress trees – she grew up in Panmure, and some of the paintings she has done are actually of the cypress trees that are just down the road from the Milk Shed.”
Works from Irene Crusca, Jane Downing, Julie Keating, Georgina Sambell, Lucy McEachern and Robert J. Williams will also be on display.
“These guys are all really high-caliber artists, and it’s pretty exciting to be able to show them in Camperdown as well,” Mr Manifold said.
“It’s a great opportunity for anyone who’s into art to come and see some nationally-recognised and collected artists.
“All of the works will be on sale, so this is an opportunity to collect locally-made artworks.”
Mr Manifold said the upcoming exhibition will be “one of the only weekends” residents can visit the studio, as the venue is only opened to the public for exhibitions.
The Milk Shed Studio will be open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6.
“It’s a very picturesque spot to come and visit,” he said,
“We’re very lucky the old milk shed that used to provide milk for the farm and those who lived around the farm was able to be turned into a studio to display artworks in.”
The studio is located at 560 Wiridgil Road, Weerite, and will have a flag marking its location during the exhibition weekend.
