'Mister Me' salutes at Camperdown
A LARGE crowd of racegoers was bathed in sunshine last weekend for the running of the Sungold Milk Camperdown Cup.
The Cup, which featured as race eight on the day’s program, was won by Mister Me (trained by S. Wilde and ridden by D. Yedall), with Desperado (trained by C. Maher and D. Eustace and ridden by N. Farley) in a close second.
A. Bobbin-trained Anphina finished a close third with jockey L. Meech on board.
While the horses and jockeys provided plenty of on-track action, off track a feature of the day was the appearance of Geelong Cats captain Joel Selwood.
The popular footballer proved a big hit among the younger racegoers in particular, spending time teaching kids’ skills and drills during an afternoon clinic.
Camperdown Turf Club manager Karen Van Kempen said the day was a huge success, with the weather playing a big part in attracting large crowds.
