Mitch Crabb wins at Timboon
DUE to Saturday being a day of total fire ban, the Mogas stroke and four ball events were played simultaneously at the Timboon Golf Club on Sunday.
Nineteen players competed in the Mogas Stroke event.
Winners were:
Scratch - 1st Mitch Crabb 69 and 2nd Hamish Huffadine 71.
Handicap - 1st Finn Castledine nett 70 and 2nd Darren Smith nett 70.
Eleven pairs contested the Mogas four ball best ball Stableford day.
Winners were Gary Shalders and Alistair Clarke with 47 points from Darren Smith and Rhys Ziegelaar with 46.
Bryan Ward and Terry O’Connor, and Gary and Finn Castledine followed with 43 points.
Nearest the pins: 5th Finn Castledine, 7th Alistair Clarke, 10th Geoff Norton and 14th Jack Rowe.
On Thursday the 12 holes Kazza’s Railway View Hotel Chicken was won by Bandu with 25 points on a countback from Kevin Plozza.
Nearest the pin was Darryl Neal.
Next Saturday will be stableford for the first round of the Timboon Motors Plate.
Despite the recent hot weather, and the course being very dry, the Wednesday golf competition managed to play last Wednesday, March 6.
Members played a game called Cha Cha Cha where they played the course in thirds.
Par was played for holes 1-6, stableford for 7-12 and then stroke for holes 13-18.
Congratulations to Heather Finlayson who was the overall winner of the day.
The winner of par was Lynne Newton while Andrea Thompson won the stableford.
The stroke event winner was Judith Wallace.
Nearest the pin on the 5th was Linda McKenzie while Judy Walsh was nearest on the 7th.
