Mogas tournament at Timboon

MEMBERS and visitors played stroke for the first day of the Mogas Tournament at Timboon Golf Club last Saturday.

Neil Gowland (71 nett 67) won A grade, followed by Rodney Edge (77 nett 68), with Jack Rowe third (81 nett 69).

In B grade, Hayden Menzel finished first with 95 nett 67, followed by Jordan Walters 87 nett 68 and Andrew Grant 101 nett 72.

Nearest the pins: 5th Hayden Menzel, 7th Rodney Edge, 10th Garry Shalders. 11th (second shot) Neil Gowland and 14th Wes Holick.

On Sunday, members and guests contested the Mogas three-person ambrose day.

The day was won by P. Stephens (4), L. Lafferty (6) and N. Swayne (15) 61 nett 56.85.

Second place went to S. Plozza (11), N. Gowland (4) and F. Togni (20) 64 nett 58.17 with third place going to C. Saunders (14), B. Saunders (9) and R. Hallyburton (45) 71 nett 59.66.

Nearest the pins: 5th Peter Cashmore, 7th Garry Shalders and 10th Jamie Norton.

On Thursday the 12-hole Railway View Hotel chicken was won by Terry O’Connor with 29 points from Peter Delaney on 28.

Terry also won the swindle while Steve Plozza was nearest the pin.

Twenty-one ladies competed in the Ah Ha event on March 5.

The winner was Lynne Newton, while Nellie Cashmore finished runner-up.

Balls down the line went to Linda McKenzie.

The event consisted of six holes of par, six holes of stableford and six holes of stroke.

The winners were: par – Steph Delaney; stableford – Andrea Thompson, stroke – Susanne Wallace.

Nearest the pins: 5th Maureen Clements, 7th Nellie Cashmore, 10thVera Convey and 14th Michelle Gristed. Nutrien ball went to June Ayres.
