The works are located around 500 metres up the road from the original works which began in May this year.

Speed reductions of 40km are in place from the town entrance to near the intersection of Cuthberts Road, Park Road and the Princes Highway, with works expected to finish by the end of November – weather permitting.

Department of Transport and Planning Barwon South West and Grampians executive director Michael Bailey said the department will keep the community updated as the project progresses.

“We’re planning for further maintenance works along the Princes Highway to improve the road surface and ensure a smoother journey for the drivers who rely on the road every day,” he said.

Western District Newspapers understands the 2025-2026 Victorian Budget will invest $976 million into a Better Road Blitz program, which is set to deliver routine and proactive maintenance on state roads.

Maintenance works tend to be delivered during the warmer, drier months from September to May to ensure repairs are long-lasting.
