Morning tea to mark fifth year
RESIDENTS are being encouraged to share a cuppa and an afternoon tea to celebrate five years of fundraising for cancer research next month.
Camperdown’s Biggest Morning Tea, which this year will be an afternoon tea set for between 1-5pm on Wednesday, May 20, is entering its fifth year raising funds for Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is an organisation working towards funding research to reduce the impact of all types of cancer on people.
Organiser of the Biggest Morning Tea event Michelle Elijah said she was encouraging residents to spread the word and come along to enjoy afternoon tea at Revamp Hair Beauty and Gifts (199 Manifold Street).
“We are starting to sell raffle tickets out the front of Benallack’s Sports (203/205 Manifold Street) with our ever-popular yo-yos, so please call past and see Peter James and grab some raffle tickets,” she said.
“There are heaps of prizes as always, and we’re grateful for all the generous donations we receive.
“We’re gaining momentum and everyone’s looking forward to it.
“If you can’t make it on the day, you are able to purchase a takeaway box for $10, and you get lots of yummy afternoon tea.
“We’re happy to deliver, so please give either Tarna (Alexander, Revamp Hair Beauty and Gifts proprietor) or myself a call or register your name with Peter when you purchase a raffle ticket.”
Attendees will be able to enjoy a tea or coffee and nibbles on the day, as well as participate in a variety of games on the day, for a gold coin donation on entry.
Door prizes will be available on the day, as well as raffles for $5, $2 and $1 prize hampers.
Over the past four years, the fundraising event has contributed close to $9500 to Cancer Council, with hopes to maintain momentum in coming years.
