Camperdown and District Motorcycle Club treasurer Tim Place said the club aimed to beat last year’s total of $2639.80.

“If we can beat that, that would be a win,” he said.

“We just want to raise as much money as possible for the Good Friday Appeal.

“The Good Friday Appeal is the best cause there is – no-one likes having sick kids.

“We’ve had a few members who had kids in the Royal Children’s Hospital for extended periods of time.

“It’s the best place on earth for kids.

“If you’re lucky enough to not have had a child go there, you know of someone who has, so that makes it just as important.”

The Easter Regatta, which will be held from Friday, April 3, will see many visitors and residents descend on Lake Bullen Merri’s southern beach.

Mr Place said the event will be a good opportunity for the motorcycle club to open their clubrooms for the day to collect extra donations.

“We’ll wander around and rattle some tins, and we’re praying for good weather,” he said.

The clubrooms will open between 10am and 4pm, with hot foot, seafood baskets, fish and chips, steamed and fried dim sims and cold drinks on sale throughout the day.
