A DELEGATION of Moyne Shire councillors and officers visited State Parliament last week to continue Moyne’s advocacy agenda.

On the agenda were key projects including the $6 million Koroit streetscape renewal, the $7 million Mortlake Health Service upgrade and issues including the condition of state controlled roads, housing and labor shortages and renewable energy developments.

The redevelopment of the Terang Mortlake Health Service Mortlake campus would include a new purpose-built Community Health Centre and adjoining new ambulance station,

Mayor Ian Smith said meetings were held with Health Minister Martin Foley, Regional Development and Agriculture Minster Mary-Anne Thomas and senior advisor to the Minister for Roads and employment Minister Jaala Pulford.

“To have time with three senior ministers to discuss our key projects and issues was fantastic,” he said.

“We had great conversations and spoke about topics including housing and labor shortages, key health developments in Mortlake and Koroit and our local roads.”

He said meetings were also held with key opposition shadow ministers, including the Shadow Minister for Health Georgie Crozier, the Shadow Minister for Renewable Energy Craig Ondarchie, Shadow

Minister for Planning Ryan Smith and local Members Richard Riordan, Roma Britnell and Stuart Grimley.

“These are really important meetings to be holding regularly, it helps keep Moyne and our key projects and issues at the forefront of the minds of government and opposition – especially ahead of the state election,” Cr Smith said.

“Each was presented with our refreshed advocacy document which lists in detail the projects and issues that we need government assistance."

“It was a jam packed couple of days, but we got some great feedback from the Ministers about the work Moyne is doing.”
