Principal Sharon Gillett acknowledged the importance of what the Message Sticks mean.

“We were excited to present the Message Stick to our school community last Friday before our Feast Day Mass celebration.” she said.

“Given the close proximity to Reconciliation Week, it was also a great reminder of the importance of learning about the history and cultures in our beautiful area.

“The Message Sticks, which were traditionally used to establish communication and transmit messages between different clans and language groups, are being carried from school to school, symbolising the interconnectedness of all our school communities, from the Murray to the sea.

“We have since passed it on to St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School in Coragulac.”

Last Friday, celebrations for the MRC Feast Day of Our Lady Help of Christians were held at the McAuley Campus in Camperdown.

A mass and assembly were followed by a Staff versus Year 12 Soccer Game on the oval.

MRC director of catholic identity and culture Mel Bourchier was pleased with how the day went.

“We had a beautiful day for our feast day. We thank everyone who contributed to the success of the events,” she said.

“The Year 12 students really got around the soccer game and it was great to see all the other students out to watch and support.”
