Much-needed rains finally arrive
THE dry start to the year subsided last month with above-average rainfall recorded over the region during July.
Terang experienced 98.6mm of rain during July, well above the long-term average of 83.2mm.
The highest daily rainfall occurred on July 16 when 22.2mm hit the ground.
The figure marks a sharp increase against July 2023, when just 54.2mm of rain hit the ground.
The total rainfall tally for Terang through 2024 stands at 317.4mm.
Meanwhile in Mortlake, the rainfall result for July also totalled well above the long-term average.
Mortlake experienced 87.6mm throughout the month, above the long-term average of 62.3mm.
The highlight daily rainfall total occurred on July 16 when 15.6mm of rain hit the ground.
The result was well over double the rainfall experienced in July 2023, when just 36.2mm was recorded.
The total rainfall for Mortlake in 2024 now stands at 258.6mm.
