Mullet to go in the name of charity
WOORNDOO’S Will Cameron is ready to part with his beloved mullet in the name of a good cause.

**UPDATE**
WILL Cameron braved the clippers today after raising almost $5000 for charity in solidarity with his young cousin, Jacob.
The 11-year-old made the decision to cut off his signature mullet, which he had been growing up for the past few years, to raise money for The Royal Children’s Hospital.
The catalyst for his fundraiser was due to his seven-month-old cousin, Jacob, being diagnosed with a rare condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Will had his mullet shaved off in front of his peers at St Colman’s Primary School this afternoon, and said he felt like “a different person”.
“I like it, but it was a little scary,” he said.
“It was good because everyone got to see it get cut off.”
Will thanked the community for their generous support of his cause.
“I feel good because there is lots of people who helped me to get lots of money to give to the Good Friday Appeal.”
There is still time to donate, with all donations made to Will’s fundraiser being added to the Mortlake area total during the annual Good Friday Appeal.

Woorndoo's Will Cameron is ready to part with his beloved mullet in the name of a good cause.
The 11-year-old will shave his iconic Australian hairstyle in support of the Good Friday Appeal on Thursday (today).
To date his online fundraiser has more than $3700 as the community has thrown its support behind the cause.
Will’s mum, Sarah, said Will had wanted to do something to support his seven-month-old cousin, Jacob, who was recently diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
“Up until a couple of years ago, life expectancy for those diagnosed with SMA was two years,” she said.
“I think Will has seen what Jacob was going through and wanted to help after we started a GoFundMe for my sister and her husband.
“We went through ways Will could help and raise money, so a couple of weeks ago he did the Run for Kids and then we came up with this idea.”
A willingness to shave off his signature mullet, which has become his “pride and joy” was not an easy decision for Will.
“I’ve been growing it for like two years,” Will said.
“It feels really good to raise so much money.
“Thank you to everyone who has donated.”
Will had initially wanted to raise $500 but that total was surpassed within hours as support from the community was widespread.
“It has exploded,” Ms Cameron said.
“A lot of people have said how grateful they are to be able to support both the Good Friday Appeal and Will in his efforts.
“Seeing a young kid get behind it is something this community wants to support.
“We’ve had support including a $300 donation from the Mortlake Market, $230 from Moyne Shire hosting a morning tea and so many others, and Woorndoo-Mortlake Football Netball Club has done a lot to help promote the fundraiser.”
Will’s luscious mullet will be shaved Thursday (today) at St Colman’s Primary School, with his school community playing its part through a gold-coin donation Casual Dress Day.
Every dollar raised through Will’s fundraiser will be counted towards Mortlake’s overall tally for the Good Friday Appeal, so anyone wanting to support the appeal is invited to do so through Will’s fundraiser.
