Mungean top scores for Tigers
WOORNDOO had an eight wicket loss to Alvie in the round nine Colac-South West premier division cricket match at Alvie on Saturday.
Tigers skipper Tyler Mungean won the toss and elected to bat, with the visitors bowled out after 47.4 overs for 151.
Mungean top scored with 58 from 97 balls, hitting five boundaries.
Vice-captain Jarryd Walsh was run out for 27 from 22 balls, with opener Thomas Gray working hard for 26 from 88 balls.
Woorndoo lost their last seven wickets for 30 runs after being 3/121.
The home team raced to 2/155 from 21.5 overs to record a comfortable victory.
Walsh got the early wicket of in-form Alvie opener Jensen Monaghan for eight, finishing with 1/30 from six overs.
Damian Clifford took the other wicket to fall, having Sam Parker caught for 53.
This week sees Woorndoo take part in the South West Cricket knockout Twenty20 competition, playing Cobden at Cobden in the first round.
In division three, Woorndoo also had an eight wicket loss.
Batting first in the match against Cobden at the Woorndoo Recreation Reserve, the Tigers were all out for 82 in the 36th over.
Paddy Halliday top scored with 33 from 19 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes, while his opening partner Brendan Mahncke made 13.
Cobden reached the victory target in the 20th over.
Halliday took the only two wickets to fall, finishing with 2/28 from eight overs.
The division three Tigers play their next game on January 17.
