Music through the ages celebrated at Timboon

TIMBOON once again brought on a magical production on Sunday, March 9 for its signature TRACKS music festival as crowds flocked to the natural amphitheatre located on the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail, complete with its new stage and roof courtesy of Corangamite Shire Council.

TRACKS took on a local flavour this year, showcasing bands starring talented local musicians, and the theme this year was rock through the ages, in tribute to Timboon’s 150th anniversary.

This year’s line-up included the Not Dead Yet Band kicking off the day with some 40s and 50s classics.

Rockit and Co had everyone singing along to their 60s and 70s hits, closely followed by MidLife Crisis belting out some 80s and 90s favourites.

Level Up had many up and dancing, bringing it home with the 2000s and beyond with a surprise ABBA encore.

A committee spokesperson said the day would not have been possible without its sponsors.

“This year the major contributor was brand new local boutique brewer End of The Line Brewing,” the spokesperson said.

“They were a hit with the crowds, serving up their local brew from a binged up old truck.

“Their mobile bar and branding were brought to fruition by two other sponsors of the day – Kristian Pechotsch of KP Design and Chris Heard of Apostle Signage Solution.

“Corangamite Shire Council generously provided a grant to help fund the event, with thanks also going to Timboon Earthmoving and Timboon Action for their contributions.

“The organising subcommittee, food and beverage vendors, performers and attendees all declared it a wonderful day out, with many commenting that it’s just getting bigger and better each year.”

The committee spokesperson also said they were lucky enough to have local Wannon MP Dan Tehan attend to open the event, and the return of MC duo ‘The Heathers’.

“A massive thank you must go out to Tamara Gunn and Heather Bullen who lead the organising committee of volunteers that brought this fabulous day together,” the spokesperson said.
