Volunteer dinner to return
VOLUNTEERS will be celebrated at an upcoming event in Cobden.

VOLUNTEERS will be celebrated at an upcoming event in Cobden.
The traditional volunteers dinner has been cancelled due to COVID in recent years, but Progressing Cobden, with the support of the Cobden Technical School, are eager to see its return this year.
Progressing Cobden’s Kelvin White said on Friday, October 7 representatives from all Cobden organisations are being invited to gather in Johnno’s Shed at the Cobden Technical School between 6pm and 8pm.
He thanked Cobden Technical School’s Willoughby and Tabitha Perriss for putting their hands up to organise the event, as well as the school SRC for supporting it.
The event – dubbed Volunteers Re-Unite – is open to all volunteers in Cobden.
Mr White said as a follow-up, Progressing Cobden will then be hosting Reconnecting Cobden on a date still tobe confirmed.
He said this will be an opportunity for all organisations to showcase what they do and how they do it.
“Reconnecting Cobden will be a full-day experience where residents and visitors can drop in for a few minutes or longer to check out what’s on show – including a range of presentations, fliers and all types of information about the organisations,” Mr White said.
“While the event might be seen as a way of recruiting members, its prime purpose will be to inform people of all ages, particularly younger people, of what services and activities are available in their immediate area.
“It will be an old time expo.”
There are more than 80 voluntary organisation in and around Cobden.
