Narrow loss for Frogs
ECKLIN’S division two team had a narrow loss at Boorcan on Saturday, the home team scoring a two wicket win.
Batting first, the Frogs made 8/154 from their 40 overs.
Anthony Clark top scored with 59 from 82 balls, hitting six fours, while Brendan Cook scored 33 from 50 balls.
Boorcan slumped to 2/2 before putting together some partnerships.
The Dragons eventually passed the Frogs score with three balls remaining, eight wickets down.
Brendan Cook was the best of the Ecklin bowlers with 3/24 from eight overs.
In division three, Ecklin had a 45 run win over Woorndoo at Woorndoo.
Batting first, the Frogs scored 3/213, led by 104 not out to opener Kayne Marshall.
Marshall’s maiden ton came from 120 balls and included 10 fours and a six.
Marshall’s opening partner Murray Ellerton also contributed 50 from 79 balls.
In reply, Woorndoo could only manage 9/168 from 40 overs.
Chris Riches led the Frogs bowling with 3/30 from eight overs.
In this week’s matches, the division two Frogs have the bye, in division three Ecklin play Boorcan at Ecklin, the Ecklin women start their season tonight against Cobden Blue at South Purrumbete, while the under 13 Frogs also have the bye.
