Narrow loss for Tigers

DERRINALLUM had a one run loss to Haddon in an exciting round 10 Grenville Cricket Association match at Haddon.


The home team won the toss and elected to bat, making 6/186 from their 40 overs.

Karan Brar led the bowling with 3/41 from eight overs, with captain Ned Uren bowling tightly, conceding just 16 runs and taking two wickets in his eight over spell.

The Tigers slumped to 4/58 before a 62 run fifth wicket partnership between Deepak Kumar and Paul Brisbane put the innings back on track.

Kumar made 43 from 78 balls, with Brisbane scoring 42 from 38.

With two overs remaining, Derrinallum needed nine to win with two wickets in hand.

The 39th over brought only three runs and a wicket.

Ben Carr hit the first ball of the final over for four to get the Tigers to within one run before he was out caught the next ball, Derrinallum all out for 185.

This week Derrinallum will host Lismore in the final round before the Christmas break.

In the under 16s, Derrinallum had a strong 69 run win over Linton at Derrinallum.

Batting first, Derrinallum posted 3/148, with Fletcher Greig retiring on 53 from 57 balls, Neave Thompson making 23 from 36 and Eddie Gellie 15.

Linton replied with 9/79 from 25 overs.

Finn Gellie took 3/5 from three overs, with Patrick Greig taking two wickets.

This week Derrinallum’s under 16s play Lismore at Lismore.

In the under 12s, Derrinallum had a 51 run win over Rokewood at Rokewood.

The junior Tigers made 74 from their 20 overs, with Charles Turner and Campbell Henderson both making nine.

Rokewood made 23 in reply.

In tonight’s under 12 game, Derrinallum play Carranballac at Derrinallum.
