National selection for Magpies
TWO of Camperdown’s brightest young netball stars have earned national selection this week.
Piper Stephens has been selected for Australia’s under 17 squad, with Aidan Conheady being chosen in Australia’s under 20 men’s netball team.
Stephens, selected after strong performances in April’s National Championships, is heading to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra from July 6 to 10 where she will be part of an elite development camp featuring 36 of Australia’s best young netballers.
A member of Camperdown’s Open and 17 and under netball teams, Stephens has been training every Friday night at the State Netball Centre in Melbourne.
Conheady has been named in Australia’s 12 man under 20 squad for the Trans-Tasman netball series in New Zealand.
His selection has come off the back of his efforts for Victoria in the National Championships in April and attendance at a recent training camp in Sydney.
The Trans-Tasman series runs from July 8 to 11.
