DESPITE a four goal to one opening quarter, the Timboon Demons struggled to keep up with the in-form Kolora Noorat last weekend.
Playing in front of a home crowd on Saturday, the Demons raced out to an early lead over the Power, kicking four majors while containing the visitors to just one goal two in the first quarter.
But the Power bounced back in the second, adding four majors of their own while the home side failed to add to the board.
Going into the third quarter with a handy 10-point lead, the Power pushed the margin out to 31 points by the end of the term and then kept the Demons scoreless in the last.
The final siren saw the Power 40-point victors, 10.10.70 to 5.0.30.
Sam Negrello led the Demons with a solid three goal performance.
He was supported on the scoreboard by Kyle Delaney and Lachlan Rosolin with a goal each.
Among the best for the Demons were Lyndon Alsop, Oliver Stansfield, Mitchell Wallace, Ash Hunt, Luke Smith and Ned Deppeler.
Timboon’s reserves continue to work hard to get another win on the board before the season’s end, but found Kolora Noorat too strong on Saturday.
Final scores were Kolora Noorat 9.10.64 to Timboon 2.2.14.
Cory Collins and Christopher Moutray kicked a goal each for the Demons while the team’s best included Jayden Stapleton, Richard Couch, Joe Williams, Tim Lecouteur, Cody Noonan and Bailey Delaney.
In what was a top-of-the-table clash in the under 18s, the Demons went down by 18 points in a tight tussle earlier in the day.
Scores remained relatively even throughout the match, with both sides struggling to make any huge impact on the board.
Final scores were Kolora Noorat 4.4.28 to Timboon 1.4.10.
Nathan Ellemor was the home side’s only goal scorer while among the best players were Jack Matthews, Eben White, Max Smith, Bailey Delaney, Lennox Tregea-Copeland and Isaac Jones.
With just four rounds remaining of the home and away season, the Demons will head to Merrivale this weekend to take on the undefeated Tigers.
Timboon’s A grade netballers are hanging on to fifth place on the Warrnambool and District ladder, half a game clear of Dennington in sixth, despite a four-goal loss last weekend.
The Demons had a tough day on the netball courts, with no wins recorded on Saturday.
Other match results were as follows: A reserve was defeated 37-44, B grade lost 27-36, the 17 and unders went down 26-39, 15 and unders lost 20-31 and the 13 and under side was defeated 11-19.
