New Australian citizens welcomed

NINE new Australian citizens took the pledge of allegiance in Camperdown last Tuesday night.

NINE new Australian citizens took the pledge of allegiance in Camperdown last Tuesday night.

Ray Delaney, Charlotte Gubbins, Allen Cagampang Macabudbud, Lea Quequegan Manzano, Pema Dolma Thing, Gemma Alcantara Tierney, Alester Baldono Alcantara, Prince Alexander Alcantara Catanyag, Jhonn Cedrick Alcantra Medeja.

The new Australian citizes have come from the Philippines, Denmark, Ireland and Nepal and made new homes in Boorcan, Camperdown, Chocolyn, Curdievale, Dixie and Timboon.

Corangamite Shire mayor Ruth Gstrein led a ceremony for the new citizens at the Killara Centre before the monthly council meeting.

“It’s a really exciting day in your lives’ and I hope you enjoy it,” she said.

Each of the new citizens received a certificate, a kangaroo paw or bottlebrush, and a giftbag.
