Having a dedicated parks manager with its values enshrined in law is unique and a testament to the significance of the management challenges and the importance of this coastline to all Victorians.
Libby Mears was reappointed as chairperson.
She has lived on the Great Ocean Road for more than two decades and is committed to genuine partnerships with the two Traditional Owner groups, local communities and stakeholders in leading the change required to manage these precious coastal and marine environments.
“It is a great honour to be appointed for a second term as chair of the authority,” Ms Mears said.
“This extraordinary coastline holds immense natural, cultural and community significance, and I am deeply committed to working with my colleagues on this new board to continue strengthening the authority and drive meaningful action that ensures this iconic region thrives for generations to come.”
A Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) spokesperson thanked all departing board members for their time and commitment.
