New directory for creatives
MORE than 70 local creators and performers are in the spotlight with the launch of Corangamite Shire Council’s online Artscape directory.
Mayor Kate Makin said the online database was an opportunity to explore Corangamite’s creative landscape and discover amazing local talent.
“Artscape is your comprehensive guide to finding local musicians, artists, bands and creative professionals,” she said.
So far, Artscape includes contact details, bios and examples of work by bands, dancers, painters, photographers and more.
“Everyone listed has a connection to Corangamite Shire,” Cr Makin said.
“Council has created the directory resource as a one-stop shop for creative talent and to assist individuals, community groups or businesses that need performers or artists for events and projects.
“We’re calling on organisers to champion local talent by hiring within our community.
“New artists can also register on the website.”
In the Community Vision 2040, shire residents called for programs and events to connect communities through funding of arts and culture programs, festivals and events.
As a result, council’s Grow and Prosper Framework prioritises support and promoting a vibrant music scene.
Artscape is an important step toward achieving the vision, strengthening creative networks and ensuring local artists are visible and supported.
Council encourages residents, event organisers and community groups to explore the directory, celebrate the talent within the shire, and help foster a thriving, connected creative community.
The directory is at artscapecorangamite.com.au.
