PEOPLE of all abilities will now beable to access the Camperdown Courthouse with a hands free door added.

The new door mechanism complements the ramp which was installed earlier in the year, according to Camperdown Courthouse Committee president Alison Byrne.

“The access door is now functional,”she said.

“We want to make sure the community know they can use the side door now.

“We’re delighted to have the door functional and we welcome people of all ability to come and enjoy the aesthetics of the courthouse.”

Ms Byrne thanked the Corangamite Shire for its support of the project.

She said the interior of the courthouse had also recently received fresh coat of paint.

Ms Byrne encouraged residents interested in volunteering their time at the courthouse to call in and find out more.

“We really need ambassadors at the courthouse,” she said.

“We need people to do one two and a half hour shift each month.

“If everyone does a regular shift, it’s abig help.”

The Camperdown Courthouse is open between 10am-3pm seven days a week.

Anyone interested in volunteering can call in at the Camperdown Courthouse for more information.
