NEW life has flourished at the Lismore Water Tower.

Renowned local artist Jimmi Buscome spent about three weeks transforming the water tower into a piece of art for locals and visitors alike to enjoy earlier this year.

The mural features two dancing brolgas and two sheep which represent the district’s long involvement in the wool industry.

Mr Buscombe returned last month to add in two brolga chicks at the base of the tower.

Corangamite Shire North Ward councillor Lesley Brown said the mural had already put Lismore on the map.

“There has been a great deal of excitement about this project and feedback from traders is that visitors are definitely coming from afar to see this beautiful work of art,” she said.

“We’ve had people from across the country and around the world stopping to take photos and explore the town, which is exactly the outcome that was planned.

“This project is helping to give the north of the shire well-deserved exposure that is attracting more visitors to the Volcanic Lakes and Plains tourism region.”
