New ramps open up access
AN official ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Sunday to open the Camperdown Courthouse accessible ramp and launch the Local Heroes art exhibition.

AN official ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Sunday to open the Camperdown Courthouse accessible ramp and launch the Local Heroes art exhibition.
The ‘Local Heroes’ exhibition was inspired by Corangamite Youth and Developed by Youth Council in partnership with Camperdown Courthouse.
The 13 works will hang in the courthouse for the next two weeks before going on the road to be displayed around the Corangamite Shire.
Locations are to be confirmed. The exhibition had been planned for January but was disrupted by COVID restrictions.
Installation of the new ramp at the court house will let people with all abilities use the community hub, visitor information centre and arts space.
It reflects one of the key priorities in Corangamite Shire’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan: access to the built environment.
The ramp was built on the east side of the building to provide access from the corner of McNicol and Manifold streets and have minimal impact on the appearance of the iconic building.
It cost just over $20,000 and was funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
The garden beds and paving were reworked with seating and garden beds either side ofthe ramp.
Local contractors completed the works.
