Simpson Primary School welcomed eight new students into the classroom of teacher Tiffany Jones and principal Melissa Berry.

Mrs Berry said the students were very excited as they entered their schooling years.

Over at Cobden Primary School, nine students began on Wednesday, January 29 as opposed to Thursday, January 30 as scheduled.

Principal Ilona Watkins said she wanted to have the whole school come back and start the year together.

“We wanted all students and their families, F-6 to experience their ‘first day’ together by welcoming all students on Wednesday, despite Preps having rest days on Wednesday until mid-March,” she said.

“We value our families and their communities, so it was lovely to welcome them all back happy and smiling.

“The joy and buzz in the school all day was evidence that students were happy to be back in a familiar and safe space.”

Foundation teachers Kerry Guthrie and Rebecca Moloney will be looking after the new students, who they said have settled in smoothly.

Timboon P-12 was a larger affair, welcoming 43 students including two sets of twins.

There are two prep classes and the teachers are Linda Ludeman and Louise Loving.

The teachers at Timboon P-12 said the preps had a great start to their school year.

Cobden Primary School started their nine new preps a day early to join the rest of the students returning in 2025.
