CORANGAMITE Shire Council’s works and services team installed new tables and chairs to be installed throughout the Camperdown township.

Shire infrastructure projects officer Dean Finlayson said council was in the process of replacing some of the existing street furniture which was ageing and in poor condition, as well as installing additional furniture in some of the high traffic locations.

“It is anticipated that the new street furniture will be installed in the coming weeks,” he said.

Public demand for more tables and chairs became evident when temporary outdoor dining settings were installed last year to help businesses adapt to COVID-19 restrictions on the number of in house patrons.

The works have been funded through the Federal Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program, as well as the State Governments Outdoor Activation Fund.
