New teams welcome
CORANGAMITE Volleyball will welcome former and new teams to its 2024 season, set to commence with a warm-up session on Tuesday, April 16.
The competition is preparing to launch into its 46th year and is welcoming new players and teams to join with those from former seasons.
The warm-up session will be held in Cobden Technical School’s gym.
Last season’s Spring premiers were Stallions (A grade) and Ballbusters (B grade) and both will no doubt be keen to defend their titles in the first season of the 2024 competition.
Plenty of interest will surround the make-up of the autumn competition, with the premier teams to be joined by the likes of the Cooriemungle Bulls, Slugs, Poachers, Rascals and NOBTS who all displayed their talents at various stages during the three seasons last year.
It is hoped that new inquiries from Terang and Camperdown will see more teams from those areas.
Teams can comprise of male, female or mixed, with players’ ages ranging from early teens through to early 70s.
A highlight of last season was the influx of younger players who showed plenty of youthful talent – and provided some younger legs which were an asset at the net and around the courts.
Seasons are typically 10 weeks in duration which allows teams to play for short or longer stints depending on other commitments.
With two available courts, play for all teams is usually completed within 90 minutes of the 7.30pm start time.
