New volleyball season underway
AUTUMN volleyball premiers Poachers have started the new season strong, with two convincing wins.
The new season of Corangamite volleyball got underway last week, with Poachers enjoying victories over both Slugs and Ballbusters.
They will be more tested in round two when they face the more formidable NOBTS and new team, Freeballers – a young side brought together by Bailey Clarke who has played a lot of his recent volleyball with NOBTS.
Although Freeballers were beaten by Bulls in round one, the game scores were 17-15, 16-14 and 12-13.
NOBTS’ winter campaign was off to a steady start, finding Ballbusters easy prey, but they fell short in their clash against Bulls.
Bulls will be hoping for a better outcome this season after leading the ladder in autumn but crashing out in the semi-final.
Round one results – Poachers def Slugs 4-0, Poachers def Ballbusters 4-0, NOBTS def Ballbusters 3-0, Bulls def Freeballers 2-0, Freeballers def Slugs 4-0, Bulls def NOBTS 2-1.
