Nine teams for winter volleyball
CORANGAMITE volleyball has attracted nine teams for its winter season with two new sides, Gorge Chocolates and Net Ninjas, joining the competition.
It promises to be an interesting season, with Cooriemungle Bulls still smarting from their upset loss to NOBTS in the autumn grand final.
They will be desperate to redeem themselves, while Cowgirls will be keen to press their claims for A grade honours after winning the lower division.
At the association’s planning night, four longer social matches were played to tune up for the season proper.
Gorge Chocolates looked an exciting line-up when they showed their wares, while Net Ninjas are an unknown quantity.
The Ninjas are another younger side, featuring several players who were first introduced to the competition two years ago.
Results were:
Cooriemungle Bulls defeated Ballbusters 4-1.
Gorge Chocolates defeated Champs 2-1.
Freeballers defeated Poachers 3-1
Gorge Chocolates defeated Cowgirls 3-0.
n Whiting were named as best for the Demons.
Aysha Hollick top scored with 14 goals, with Bella Savage scoring 13.
