Nirranda too strong for Demons

ROUND four of the Warrnambool District League proved to be another tough one for the Timboon Demons.

The Demons travelled to Nirranda on Saturday to take on the second-placed side in what was anticipated to be a big challenge.

From the first bounce the home team showed its dominance all over the ground.

By the main break Nirranda had a 54 point lead and the margin proved too big to overcome for the Demons who eventually went down by 170 points.

Final scores were Nirranda 30.16.196 to Timboon 4.2.26.

Best for the Demons were Ash Hunt, Luke Smith, Kristofer Gristede, Mitchell Gristede, Henry Stansfield and Kyle Delaney.

Thomas Hunt managed two majors while Mitchell Gristede and Mitchell Wallace each contributed a goal to the board.

Earlier in the day, Timboon’s reserves put in another good effort but went down by 43 points, 1.3.9 to 6.16.52.

Best for the Demons were Leroy Steere, Bailey Delaney, Rangi Vickers, Zeth Kerr, Trevor Casey and Nathan Ellemor.

Cory Collins was the side’s only goal scorer.

On the netball courts, Timboon’s juniors all had good wins while the senior sides went down to Nirranda across all grades.

Results were as follows:

A grade –Nirranda defeated Timboon 77-27.

A reserve – Nirranda defeated Timboon 52-23.

B grade – Nirranda defeated Timboon 63-22.

17 and under – Timboon defeated Nirranda 36-19.

15 and under – Timboon defeated Nirranda 22-14.

13 and under – Timboon defeated Nirranda 27-13.

Round five this weekend will see the Demons travel to Noorat Recreation Reserve to take on the Power.
